Getting really nervous about this I'm such a procrastinator. I'm embarrassed because my father remarked he's surprised I haven't gotten everything packed yet since I keep telling him of all the stuff I'm taking to Goodwill (and the dumpster). I'm embarrassed I've done hardly anything well other than throw tons of stuff away everything from my once beloved rock and mineral collection, my video tapes, old records and am donating over half my book collection and clothing. He's like how much could you possibly have in a studio apartment? lol Don't even go there.
Oh, I get it. Your engaging in luxuaries like eating, sleeping and using the bathroom, instead of packing? What's next, your going to take time to breath?
You are normal. This happens all the time. You actually have done alot by getting rid of some stuff you don't need. Just keep the pace going. Hit a room and don't stop until that room is packed for moving. If in doubt about taking it, put it aside and keep going. Most people delay because they spend too much time trotting down memory lane. Each item brings back memories that they start thinking about and time drifts away.
Not to worry...I'm a procrastinator too. Some of us just work better with a deadline over our heads. If you work better with a list, start writing down everything you need to do and cross off as finished. Go with the "one room at a time" plan, or start with everything you won't be using in the next two weeks. Take a deep breath and jump in. Sometimes starting is the hard part.
I agree, you are normal. Not all people are OC. But now that your move is just days away, you really need to stop wasting time. Cramming period begins!
OK, mtneer...it's been almost a week since you first posted. How are you doing? Are you packed yet? Those rocks and books weigh a lot so be very selective (unless of course they are rare and hard to replace). Only you can decide what means the most to You. Good luck with your move!
