You betcha? That's only for the Upper Midwest if I recall...and that's more of a Canadian saying actually. I've never heard you betcha said anywhere in the Midwest other than states like Michigan, Wisconsin, or Minnesota. Certainly not said in the Lower Midwest. For the Midwest it's hard to think of an actual saying for me...I always thought our dialect for the most part was the stereotypical American....

"say yea to da U.P., eh!"

...
Midwest is a big "please" and "thank you" place. Very annoying.

Well, the upper midwest is the midwest, is it not? And no, the dialect of the midwest is not sterotypical American. "Pop" for soda (sometimes pronounced "Pahhp", all sorts of strange things my extended family in Nebraska says that I don't think of as sterotypical American as much as poor English (where's it at?), etc. You really need to get out more.

When you put it that way, I agree. I was referring to a unique phrase that you hear throughout the Midwest no matter where you are in it. When you put things that way, it's hard for me to think of an answer to that. Midwestern phrasing and dialect is hard to generalize. All I can generally say is that Midwesterners either sound pretty close to your general American accent, or if you're in the Upper Midwest they sound a bit Canadian.

yayoi they say pop in Cinci? I figured that it would be soda there or even Coke. I didn't think you were North enough for that but I guess I was wrong.
