I wouldn't say all of eastern PA, most of NEPA, pike county and wayne are still mostly rural.

i just think its bizarre how NY state claims NYC and the 2 neighboring states who eat up a 100% of the culture (CT & NJ) are defined as separate states with different cultures ? WTF
I grew up in New Haven (part of Long Island sound) we watched the Yankees/Mets, Nets/Knicks Jets/Giants. got NY1 news..

of course people on this board that think NJ to NYC is like Texas to Colorado...
and CT and NYC is like Montana and Colorado

i'm sure the same is with Maryland/DC/Virginia

yet, states like Colorado, Nevada, Cali are united

i believe someone linked LA w/ Vegas in another post, yet Philly/AC are in different states...weak

my 2cents had to vent a little

I am not disagreeing with you, most of PA land wise is closer to most of NY

but more people live in the part of PA that may have more in common with Jersey

In many ways a new state that would include CT, NYC (West Chester County, and LI), NJ, Philly & SE PA, and Northern DE might make the most sense from a cultural standpoint. But there will be many that would disagree I am sure

I pretty much agre with you there, that is where the vast majority of the northeastern population is and luckily takes up a small portion of the land in the northeast.

I wouldn't mind PA excluding SE PA and upstate ny becoming one state.

The differance is if you decide in Philly at midnight to go to AC - you are there by 1 - In LA you get to LV at 3
