Maybe in 100 years...I hope

You hope we become socialists? Well, I rather not! Last time I checked America doesn't try to "fit in" with other countries. No offense to anyone in Canada.

Religious Fundamentalism? "Need to carry loaded firearms"?

Forgive a majority of us Americans who have a culture that's not European! I'm Proud to believe in God, as are a HUGE majority of Americans (Even though our religious views clash) and A HUGE Majority of Americans support gun rights, which is in the Constitution.

Canada's freedom of speech is limited compared to ours.

Also, we have 300 Million people! Of course we're going to have more violence! Canada has what, 40 Million (Just checked, not EVEN 40 million!)

More people = More crazies.

I mean no disrespect to Canada, but these bleeding-heart liberals take every thing this country gives them for granted.

America has waaaaay more freedom then Canada!

Because we can have guns? That means we have more freedom? Um... Fact check...

Last time I checked Canada was a democracy with the SAME exact freedoms afforded to its people that all contemporary Western democratic societies afford to their people... Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of association, etc. Actually, according to the Democracy Index, Canada is a "freer" and more democratic country than the United States! For the record, the U.S. is far better than most countries in the world, but Canada is still ranked higher.

Personally, I'm proud to have a culture where I live that is MORE European, proud NOT to be religious, and definitely believe in restricting some of the ridiculously liberal gun laws. What a great country we have that you and I can coexist peacefully.

So, in summary, I think Canada is a good model for us to follow in SOME ways. Does this mean I appreciate this country less? No.

Oh, also... Canadians aren't socialists... (WTF? ) At least not most of them. And Canada is not a socialist country... It's a socialized democracy EXACTLY like the U.S. is...

We have more rights Genius. We have more freedom of speech, he don't have single-payer, we don't have as high taxes as they do.

Canada not Socialist? Stop drinking the kool-aid.

You should get educated , travel and see other points of view. Living in fear and ignorance will not set you free.

A lot of people misinterpreted the question and just wrote their Nationality and not their ancestry.
And this is why the statistics from the Canadian census on ethnic origin are completely useless and have been since that time.

BTW, I will agree with the poster who said that Canada's white population is less diverse than the white population in the U.S. Though by no means is Canada's white anglo population exclusively "British Isles" (English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh), it is much more "British Isles" than the group commonly referred to as non-Hispanic whites (read = anglos) are in the U.S.

This is primarily because the U.S. diversified its European immigration quite a bit earlier than Canada did. Immigrants from the British Isles were a larger proportion of immigrants to Canada and for a longer time, and were probably the largest group moving to Canada annually well into the middle part of the 20th century.

Yet you have nothing to add to it. He is right. There is nothing wrong with religion and licensed guns are different than illegal guns. 99.99% of murders in New York City are by illegal guns which means THEY ARE NOT LICENSED. I do not know why liberals have such a hard time grasping this. They are smuggled in and sold on the streets and NO liberal gun laws will stop it. What your little gun laws will do is affect a law abiding family from protecting their property, themselves, and their family. Protection is good.

He is not scared, you are the one who seems to be living in fear judging by that weak scared little first post of yours.

I love Canada, but they've treated their First Nations people, almost as bad (some say even worse) than America.

Something tells me you've never been to Canada. They have huge immigrant populations from all over the world.

Yes, that happened every day in 2007, all over Canada!

So?
That's life. Groups of human beings have been pushed, forced, killed and tortured in every corner of the world since humans were banking rocks against each other.

I hate to sound so cynnical, but I'm sick of the 'We treat Native Americans so horrible' argument.
