You people are clueless. If you don't live here how do you know what is going to happen?

The police will not be asking every brown person for their papers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The police will not be harassing American citizens of Mexican descent.

If you're Hispanic and speak English like you were born here (like most of the Hispanics I know and work with) the cops are not going to ask you to provide proof of citizenship.

If you are caught breaking the law and speak very poor or no English then the cop is probably going to question your citizenship! DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now they can lock you up and deport you.

Do people who don't live in Phoenix metro have any idea how many Hispanics are on our various police forces? QUITE A FEW!!!!!!!!!!!

Racial profiling, give me a break!

They do and it's called The Employee Sanctions Law. Look it up.

Are you saying that Latino and Native American children should be taught lies about Christopher Columbus discovering America so as to spare the feelings of white children, who might be offended to find out he was a murdering rapist? Or should Black children not be informed that AZ was the only state to oppose a Dr. King holiday back in the late 80's and early 90's?

Funny how a lot of black transplants find Phoenix to be one of the least racist places they've lived.

I already did.

With all of this stuff going on in AZ, will they get a bad rap?

What facts might those be?

The law is clearly just a way to harass brown people. If you guys were really serious about stopping illegal immigration, then you'd crack down on the companies who hire illegal immigrants. If there were no jobs to be had in the US, then Mexicans would stay on their side of the border.

Employers found guilty of a first violation of knowingly employing an unauthorized alien may be ordered to terminate their employment.

So, if you get busted for "accidentally" hiring an illegal immigrant to work at your company, then the punishment is that you have to fire the illegal immigrant. Sounds pretty severe.

They also face suspension of their licenses, unless the company files a sworn affidavit with the county attorney, stating that the employer has terminated the person(s) and that the employer will not intentionally or knowingly employ an unauthorized alien.

Business owner face the suspension of their licenses unless they promise not to do it again. Harshness.

So they give the employer one strike because the second time they permanently revoke all business licenses. So the second time you are caught you are out of business.

You conveniently left that part out.

Arizona is off the hook today since the federal court has stopped their immigration law. Hopefully Arizona will accept the decision and let things calm down as well as improve their reputation.

They are definitely going to appeal. It has strong backing from the population of the state and itwill force the Fed to start enforcing immigration law.

All the 9th Circuit Court did was block a couple of statutes of the law. It still goes into effect tommorrow. The main contentious parts of the bill will be debated and appealed in the following months. Don't hold your breath, the illegals will be going home soon. Regardless of their country.
