Oh Boston & Atlanta were on the poll.

It's kind of a weird poll pattern how some of the smaller cities are put in between groups of larger ones, completely threw me off.

Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Boston are the only cities in the US with real downtown areas. Much less areas of size.

The NOVA/DC area has significant amounts of office space, but it is spread out across a vast region. That it happens to also be poorly linked and severely disjointed is another factor.

In the real world, the list is much larger.

Here's are a study showing the downtown populations of a few US cities as of 2000.

Notable populations:

Boston: 79,251
Philadelphia: 78,349
Chicago: 42,039
Los Angeles: 36,630
Baltimore: 30,067
Atlanta: 24,731

Small populations for large cities...

Houston: 11,882
Phoenix: 5,925
Detroit: 6,141

Of course opinions are important and relevant...but there are simple minded opinions that really don't exhibit any knowledge of the subject, and the statement that there are only 4 "real downtowns" in the U.S. fits the bill.

LOL.....although I also do not agree with the only four downtowns opinion...that's my opinion on their opinion and your post is your opinion.....as I see no links..
