I've recently found out that I won't be able to move forward academically for another year or so, and I've been stuck in Florida for two or so years, after my over zealous generosity left me unable to pay the bills nor bankroll my leaving the state for better prospects.

Whelp recently that changed.

And I was wondering, would anyone have any advice, I'm something of a loner. African American Male in his early 20s, (23 to be precise) I've no real trade skills. And I come off as a bit rough I suppose having grown up in the ghetto I guess would be the best way to explain it.

Would anyone have any advice of a place to head for in the hopes of better luck, preferably a place with a good variety of weather, and very mild summers?

Also. I apologize if this isn't the place to ask this.

Maybe a city like Columbus Ohio or Denver might work for you, but what you want in a place and other things need to be mentioned to help you out in a more specific way.

Hell I was just looking for a place with better employment rates, haha.

Uhh, I simply want somewhere I can unwind, I've had a tumultuous past 5 years or so.
I figure everyone's entitled to some peace & quiet every now and then. Yeah?

Some place with a decent collection of colleges, maybe focused around technology, especially IT. Maybe one of the states harboring a ski mountain or two within a 100 miles or so?

I've no problem traveling to the other side of the Continental U.S but I'd prefer to keep it mid-west maybe somewhat northern?

I guess that is anywhere in the Northeast. Maybe even Michigan or Ohio.

I thought about that, but those two states in particular have worse unemployment rates then Florida.

Unemployment sucks most places.

Here are the metro areas with the lowest unemployment rates.
1) Bismarck, ND (3.1%)
2) Fargo, ND (3.5%)
3) Grand Forks, ND (3.8%)
4) Lincoln, NE (4.2%)
5) Iowa City, IA (4.4%)
6) Sioux Falls, SD (4.6%)
7) Ames, IA (4.8%) (three-way tie)
7) Burlington, VT (4.8%)
7) Rapid City, SD (4.8%)
10) Logan, UT (5.1) (another three-way tie)
10) Manhattan, KS (5.1)
10) Omaha/Council Bluffs, NE (5.1)

Also decent (and maybe something like what you're looking for): Madison, WI; Boulder, CO; Charlottesville, VA; Fort Collins, CO.

This is all from the Bureau of Labor Statistics site: Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Sorry I've been somewhat busy the last two days or so.

I've been looking into either Denver, CO or St. Louis, MO
