According to the National Association of State Foresters the five states with the most total forested area.
Alaska - They actually don't have the stat for 2006 for some reason, but I'm going on other sources here.
California
Oregon
Idaho
Georgia - I think this state might be the smallest in area of these five.
Alabama, Montana, Colorado, and Washington are also listed as having a fair amount.
Compared to land area Maine, New Hampshire, and West Virginia seem the most forested.

California I read somewhere has more protected wilderness than AK. Idk how true it is, but check this site out. A huge majority of CA is protected forest. That doesn't include state parks and such either.
