I am looking to relocate from albany ga. I have elementary age children and would like to find a city in the us with some of these qualities ...low crime...neighborly feel...big city but small town feel....family friendly ....affordable housing....good schools...good healthcare options...good hospitals....(my daughter is type one diabetic) ...plenty of things to do for families...good job market...maybe mountains..creeks...possibly near military base...(hubby is wanting to enlist in a branch) nice weather..mild winters a little snow...not to much...not to hot in summer...and id like to work in a childrens home so if there's one nearby that would be a plus...any input would help and thank you!

Upstate NY around West point? They get a little more snow than you're used to, but it seems fit your other criteria.

Your husband amy enlist but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be working at that base. They'll ship him out for training then get his orders, which might move you to a complete different part of the country. Or even out of the country.
