In the distant horizon, a giant wave is building. There are some who recognized the swell and raised the alarm. There are others who deny the possibility of such a wave. Most remain blissfully unaware. The wave is building and when it reaches our shores, it will hit with the force of a tsunami.

May I suggest raising taxes?

I like the idea of the consumer driving the economy with spending, but the consumer will never fix a bridge or sewage system, so please raise taxes to address this concern -- which I feel is very real!

No, it's not the solution, it's bad for the economy and it's too easy.In California that was a failure.
The pension system must be reformed that's all, particularly the public pension system...Too many useless spendings and some advantages must disappear.

Deconstruction is a strange word to use about pensions. And what do pensions have to do with geography?

I had guessed the article was about deconstructing Detroit, turning it back to farmland or forests - stuff like that.

We could not spend on the war in Iraq while we're at it...clearly I lean left, but I'm not very political, so no need to go down that route.
