If you had a generous sum in the bank and perhaps your last name first name started with Sheikh for instance, where would you live and why? I am not talking about a State,Metro area or a big city. What area of a big city would you live in, or what town? Why is it the ideal place for you?

Even though, I'm thinking of eventually moving out west or to hawaii, my heart will always be in nyc. But the only way id live in nyc is if I had a loft apt in manhattan, and that's THOUSANDS PER MONTH. LOL. So I guess new york will always be a place ill visit, and never live, unless I strike it rich. But new york is so special, it feels great just to walk down the city streets with a bagel.

I love new york because its truly the best city in the world.
Second choice would be san fran, on a hill in one of those cool narrow homes..overlooking the wharf. But I can't afford that either...those are my 2 fave cities because they're one of a kind, cultured, and Amazing!

I always dreamed of a huge loft apt overlooking manhattan skyline. But..id take a penthouse, brownstone, or plain lil apt in the heart of the city..all way too expensive for me at this time.

If I were very rich, I'll have to go with many people and say Manhattan. No other place is the same as that because NYC is the city of all that is. I'd like to have a loft type apartment too, something with at least 1800 square feet so that if I one day have a family I will have enough room for my wife and kids.

San Fran, no question. I have never loved the huge city feel of NYC and have never been awed by it. But I absolutely love San Fran and wish that I would ever have a hope of affording the down payment for a $600-700k house (which I believe is the median) to live there.

Small farm/farm house near a river and not many people nearby. Hand or animal driven implements and nature paths to utilize bicycle travel on.
Region will vary, but I favor hot weather over cold.

Ideally, if money was no option (choosing from American cities):

--A brownstone in Manhattan, Center City Philadelphia, or Mt. Vernon Baltimore.
--House near the ocean in Portland, Maine.
--A house on one of the great lakes.
--Butte, Montana
