Very recently, as in the past couple of weeks, Walmart was again turned down by neighborhood protests and city planners in a suburb east of Portland - they finally gave up and will start looking elsewhere for land to raze, I'm sure.

People, the answer to the demise of Walmart is very simple: DO NOT SHOP THERE. Period.
I don't like to go--yet sometimes I have to go.

I live near the Intown area of Atlanta. For years the closest Walmart was about 15 miles away in a heavily congested area--so I never went. Then they built one about 10 miles away--and I go every 3 months or so.

A new Walmart opened mid Jan/Feb but people are very rude there--terrible traffic area--I went once late on a Sat night--never again.

I am tired of Kroger, Publix and Target, too. PIA's--royally.
