I would consider someplace like Greenwich, or Stamford, to be western. I think that is what OP was referring to. Greenwich certainly IS rich.
Is this really a question? Look at a map. Bridgeport lies in Connecticut's westernmost county (Fairfield County) and New Haven is central CT but from there, points west is the western third of Connecticut. Greenwich and Stamford aren't just western - they're towns that actually border New York. That's like me saying "I consider Montauk to be eastern LI but not Quogue."

Oh, and I'm the OP.

then they are WESTERN Ct. Hello? What do you consider Easter Ct.? Just New London? Bridgeport isn't west. Look at a MAP.

Both Montauk and Quogue are eastern LI. Is Port Jeff WESTERN LI by that standard? It's in Suffolk County and not even at the border. How can that be western LI when there is NASSAU County? Port Jeff isn't even on the border of Suffolk. Bridgeport and Port Jeff are opposite each other on the Sound.

Cannot have it both ways. The two states border on the Sound. If one is western/eastern, then the other has to be also.

Greewich is western and rich. There is no denying that one. Bridgeport is eastern and poor. Two different animals. I am not even going to get into Hartford which isn't even on the coastline.

Where did I say Greenwich and Stamford were not western CT? Anything in the western part of the state is western CT. Did I say Port Jeff was in western LI? We're talking about CT here, not Long Island. Two different areas (thank god), two different borders.

Bridgeport is part of the Stamford/Norwalk metro area that is the wealthiest in the nation.

Bridgeport is eastern CT? LOL, wow. You really need to consult a map. Connecticut is four small counties wide. Bridgeport is in the westernmost county. That's considered southwestern CT.

Check out where the dot is representing Bridgeport:

Some of the people on these boards really friggen scare me.

How could Bridgeport not be Western CT? Or how could it be Eastern?

Forget the regions on the map, you can clearly see Bridgeport is in Western CT. You can have it both ways, it doesn't matter what east and west is on Long Island, or where CT's cities fall in relation to it. It's in the Western half of CT, Hartford would be about the dividing line for the state. The Prime Meridian doesn't run through Long Island where everything in it's area up and down the line is either east or west based on what it is there, in CT's borders Bridgeport is clearly western. Why is Long Island the point from which everything is relatively decided? That makes no sense.

The poster we're replying to obviously has an issue with comprehension.

apparently anything east of NYC is considered eastern, regardless of its geography within its own state. LOL

Whoever said there are slumps or projects in Greenwich obviously has never been here. You cant be poor or middle class to afford living here, a half decent small house ( if you can find one ) rents for over 3500 a month and goes up to 30 thousand plus. The most expensive EVER in the history of the USA piece of Real Estate currently in the market is here, listed for $ 190 million dollars. Greenwich Ave is compared to Famous Streets as Madison Ave, Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, Switzerland and Margaritastrasse in Frankfort. This place is reserved for the real rich, not the wannabe's like you see in Alpine and most places like the San Francisco-San Jose areas. Greenwich is also different, because it is old money, most people are white and there is a real high Society, whereas in San Francisco-San Jose, you have a very diverse crowd, mostly Asians and Hindus that came here to work in the Computer Industries, Seattle has the same problem. You can drive anywhere in Greenwich and you get tired of seeing huge Mansions everywhere. Most people are very private and yes, they believe they are better than anyone else, they just dont say it, nor they want or like strangers driving around the town. Greenwich is probably the only town which has no public beaches, you have to be resident in order to go to the beach. You can watch Michael Moore " Greenwich Beaches " on youtube to get an idea of our lovely town!! If you live in New Canaan, Darien or Westport, it is because you cant afford Greenwich!!

Exactly. I hate that state with a passion.
