I'm 26, and I've lived in Brooklyn, NY all my life and I love it, but its time for a change. I got married a year ago, and in another year or so, my husband and I want to move to a little quieter, cheaper place, and think about having kids.

My dilemma.....I don't know where to move to! My husband is from Minnesota, so his choices are Minnesota and Colorado. I've been to both places and they are nice but Minn gets wayy too cold. Plus, being the fact that everyone I know is in NY, I don't want to move that far away.
Possibly somewhere on the east coast.

Thus, I'm looking for a safe, affordable, excellent schools, city and suburbs, not too cold, low unemployment rates, diversity would be great, we're an interracial couple and getting multiple looks gets annoying.

Any ideas???

Thanks.

This would probably be better in the "General US" thread section. I only can speak on places in NYC. Good luck on your future decision/move!

The inner suburbs of DC would fit the bill.

Northern VA is almost just as expensive as NYC metro...i'd definitely recommend suburbs of Philadelphia. Much cheaper, still a short drive from NY.
