My wife & I are looking to relocate, we currently live in Buffalo, NY..We are looking for a place with job opportunities, good education system, and a safe place to raise our two children..I am beginning an IT career and wife is working to become a physician..I like the busy downtown setting, but would like to live in the suburbs..I would prefer a place where racism is not a big issue..I am hoping to avoid a 1-2 hour commute to work everyday, but i understand that i may have to just deal with it..I am having trouble deciding between Atlanta, North Carolina, or the DMV Area (DC, Maryland, Virginia), any feedback would be greatly appreciated..

All have fairly healthy economies.

COL is probably the biggest difference with DMV being the most expensive especially if you want to live closer to downtown. Atlanta may offer the best balance of larger amenities and a moderate COL

North Carolina is a huge and varied state; where exactly are you looking?

I hate the DMV. Standing on line for an hour just to renew my license and registration is a real bummer.

Two good choices. I think Raleigh is in a slightly better position than Charlotte is right now in terms of jobs, but I'd definitely look into both.

Less than that in SC. That's one thing SC excels in.
