There are, of course, native americans in Cherokee NC. Also a reservation in Robbinsville, though that group are NAs who have come back from Oklahoma and points west, and because of intermarriage look more like southwestern indians or what we think of as hispanic.
A lot of my neighbors in Knoxville look to have some native American ancestry. During the trail of tears many Cherokee passed off lighter skinned children to sympathetic neighbors to be raised as white.
I would not add anything to my town, this thread was obviously started by a Liberal fool who is obsessed with diversity and other utopic BS, here is the demographic breakdown of Indianola, Iowa:
The racial makeup of the city was 97.92% White, 0.40% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.85% of the population.
It has been working for us, no need to fix what ain't broken! Dream on!
I think you're allowed to pick conservative groups too. I selected like Vietnamese people and they still tend to vote Republican or often hold conservative opinions. Although possibly you could even pick white groups that tend to be conservative if you wish. Like say whites who are: Mormons, Calvinists, members of Dutch Reformed Churches (Most counties that are highly Dutch Reformed are also highly Republican), soldiers, or engineers. Granted their might be some really liberal white Mormon soldiers out there, but on average the odds are a white Mormon engineer is a conservative.
Still I can see being satisfied with one's community as is. Personally though I don't like living in a town that's so monolithic. I think the people become lax and don't need to think about what they stand for.
Since Richardson is a very conservative suburb of about 100,000, I'd add more progressives. Probably about 60,000 of them--you know, just enough to tip the political lean of this municipality. That ties into my wish for more people who are accepting of gays, people who are kind to those in need financially and/or socially, and Christians that are actually living in the 21st Century. It'd also facilitate a better transit system, more dense housing, and more good soul food.
Thankfully, Dallas County in general is now fairly progressive and becoming more so with each day, so the area is changing anyway...
If you could add a huge number of any people of any demographic to your city, who would they be?
When thinking about this question, the demographic I am asking about could be anything. Such as their nationality, their "culture group" or people interested in a certain subject, their political ideology, or the type of career they like. Why would you like that group in there?
The second one is, if you choose your demographic, how many of those demographic would you have wanted to be in your city?
Like for example, you could say "I would have liked if my city would have added 3,000,000 people of Norwegian or Swedish decent because of XXXXX". Another example, when it comes to interest groups, would be "I would have liked if my city had an extra 50,000 gay (meaning they like people of the same gender) people because XXXXX" or "I would have liked it if my city had 100,000 people added who are good in the career of software programming because I think having this industry in my city would be good because of XXXXX". You can put something as well like "I would have liked it if 10,000 people who are very devout Christians and believe in family, faith, and country in my city because XXXXX".
I also request that people not talk about who they DON'T want in their city or wish they could be subtracted, because that could anger people especially if it concerns subjects such as race or other things.
That would be the "demographic" of restauranteurs. In fact, I think we should shut down immigration except for people who want to come here and open up restaurants that serve food from their native country.
I would really like it if there would be a lot of very talented people who are psychic or into New Age things like Reiki, crystals, healers, mediums or eastern or indigenous medicine in the city. I think they could really help a lot of people. Some people may believe it is all hokey pokey but I think for those who believe in it, they are very helpful and can turn around lives for the better as long as they don't charge obscenely high amounts of money like $5000 per session or more that some do.
Also, I would really like people who are super-geniuses in my city who would do everything to make things better, especially in the field of lowering the cost of living in the city. New York City could definitely have those types of people, but I am not sure how to lower the cost of living without lowering the property values of those who already live there...
