One day without traffic! We could also go to nearby county or NYC for shopping on Sunday
Why don't they open the stores on Sunday and simply prohibit driving? Hmmmm...that would relieve the traffic!

They used to stone people for performing certain tasks on Sundays. I think we should all return to the basics.

Bergen County has 4 major malls, and many strip stores. It is also the largest county in NJ, and located next to NYC and rest of New York state.

The Blue Law has been in Bergen County for more than 50 years, and the residents like the law. It has been voted down several times to keep the law!

Large in area? Are you kidding me?

Texas had a blue law when I first moved here and I hated it! I like the idea of everyone who wants one moving to Bergen County...and leave the rest of the US alone!

I also like the freedom that people can do whatever they like, because if I had it my way, movies would not come out on Christmas Day, but not everyone in this country is Christian, so why can't they have their own freedoms?

Touchy subject, but overall, I say let the market decide and keep religion a separate entity.
Not only that, but I know for a fact that many Christians could care less about Sunday as a day of rest. If you own a business and want to close it down on a Sunday, fine. If you're a consumer and don't want to shop on a Sunday, fine.

If this were in the South everyone here would be shouting "backwards bible thumpers", but since it's NJ I'm hearing none of that.

Hmm

If the citizens voted for racial segregation I guess that would make it okay? Just because there is a vocal majority doesn't make it right.
did you just equate racial segregation with shopping on a sunday?

It should be left to the standards of the local community, in every case. The merchants who apply for building permits or occupy floor space have had to do their due diligence prior to wanting to start a business. The desires of the local population should be adhered to and respected. It's really a non-issue, if you ask me.
