james203 - I agree, had heard multiple sources/times that Pittsburgh had cleaned up, a lot, but,,, evidently not enough and/or they are downstream of other nasties. I am glad to see Chattanooga not on there tho'! Indy surprises me...
I grew up in the Santa Fe-Espanola Metro Area, and what do ya know.. 2nd best on the top 25 cleanest cities we really must be doin something right! and Farmington.. and Albuquerque also on the top 10.. i say New Mexico is a very clean state when it comes to the air..
You don't have to be in a bad place , just down wind from it.
Even more so are the upper wind currents. Houston exports its weather 1200 miles northeast ! All the trees are dying in the Mountains of the east, sad thing. Same problem on the Great lakes , with Canadian cities and US population centers exchanging air and water.
Tell that to Al Gore and similar bozos who love to go around yelling about Houston being the "most polluted city in the world". Rubbish. I guess that's politics for you, lying is okay if it makes your opponent look bad!
I have to say Im surprised at Salt Lake City though at #5. Never thought or heard of it as a bad or polluted place. Anybody know how it got on the list? I must be missing something here.
I don't believe in the methods in which they conducted that study. How could New York City not be on the list?! All of those people, all of those cars, all of those industries...i don't buy it.
Actually, the majority of people in NYC don't drive.
Actually, the majority of people in NYC don't drive.
Actually we've had a 300% increase of bicycle ridership over the past 20 years. 75,000 bike commuters strong! I'm one of em'!
Cars suck, especially SUV's. They are killing the planet and giving children asma.
wind patterns/geography, transit use and not a lot of "dirty" industries.
Geography? Chicago is flat as a pancake and the lake is unusable 9 months out of the year.
