I think we all know the states that will lead but many people don't realize how much beauty are in such states like Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
I agree with that, those 3 states are highly underated. Rolling hills and low mountains, forest and lakes(man made) everywhere. Very nice people in that part of America as well.

I agree. I voted for Arkansas. Although I live in Missouri, which is pretty in its own right, Arkansas is hard to beat. Anyone who has driven south on Highway 7 from Jasper will attest to that.
Just out of curiosity, I have seen several of the posters make reference to mountains. I have never been able to really understand why people think that mountains are beautiful.

Somebody 'splain it to me, won't you, please?

How mountains are formed is what facinates me- I never really though "why" mountains are beautiful, they just are.
They're massive thrusts of earth that rise up to the sky.
For me, it was a draw between Alaska, Washington, Utah, and Colorado. I've only been to southeastern Alaska, and as beautiful as it was, I need to see more of the state in person to make a proper judgement. Same with Washington, I've only seen the Cascades area, none of the east or Olympic Peninsula.
I do happen to be from Colorado, but I've also been all over Utah, and I think that while Colorado has more high mountain ranges (which don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE to death!), the terrain and land diversity of Utah is unbeatable. It has green valleys such as the Utah and Salt Lake Valleys just miles away from barren desert. Not to mention the Canyonlands, Salt Flats, Arches, Zion, Bryce, etc.
