I can vouch for the Tampa Bay area. It's amazing how wonderful it is after living in the Northeast US for years. The variety of home improvement people I've worked with actually show up, show pride in their work, perform quality work quickly and honestly without "are you kidding me prices" and they actually finish on time. As near as I can tell unions don't have the influence or sketchy tactics here like they do in the NE US.
