South Carolina has some of the worst. Vegas obviously has some bad ones. I remember one with a Sopranos looking thug in a tuxedo holding a giant lobster.
I'm not sure they are still up, but I remember passing through a beautiful part of rural central West Virginia and saw something like six billboards in a row stating how pretty the area is...it was written like those old Burma Shave signs, but on billboards instead.
Atlanta
Chicago
Houston
New York
Los Angeles (in weird positions, lol)
It's pretty safe to say that the mainstream cities will have them in abundance. I'm impartial to them, though. Not ugly, not always attractive. They're just part of the "razzle dazzle" of big places.
And can we get a show of hands for how many states have Bronner's of Frankenmuth, MI ... the year round winter wonderland advertised along the highway??? Ugh!

Bronner's has relatively decent billboard signage. At least they are not selling RVs or "adult entertainment" (I'm thinking of various billboards along US-23 and I-275).
The worst signs are erected by GM dealers, especially around the Flint area. No one really wants your crap product. Go away, lol.

Yep,saw one just yesterday going to the Warren Dunes in Mich. I have never seen the "nice" bullboard,,they are all eyesores
oh man, mentioning Bronner's is evil.. especially when I'm all the way down here and they're all the way up there.
I loved going to Frankenmuth and especially loved eating at Bronner's. Fried chicken of course..
grrrrr, now I'm hungry
edit- wait a minute.. I was just at their site and there's no mention of a restaurant. Now I'm confused. It now looks like a touristy place and not a thing like I remember from the 70's.. (I know, go figure).
didn't Bronner's used to just be a restaurant that was next to all the Christmas type stores? or am I thinking of something else?
edit again- ahh, I love the internet.. Zehnder's is the restaurant. Now it's all coming back to me
edit 3- gotta stop reading forums on food.. someone in another forum mentioned Tony's truck stop (near Frankenmuth) and their huge breakfast. I remember not eating for an entire day trying to prepare for that thing.
still couldn't eat the whole thing and I was a teenager back then. a teen that could eat anything and everything
Houston has so many more billboards than Chicago it's pathetic...and ugly.
I've lived recently for many years in both cities, and it is definitely Houston!
