My heart belongs to little Ontario, a lake I often swam in as a kid.

... I know, Superior is much deeper, pristine, and amazing than Michigan, but both Chicago and my parents' vacation home are on the shores of Michigan.

Erie probably ranks above Ontario for me as well.

I think everyones gonna say Lake Michigan, since it's the most well known lake IMO (Chicago's on it)

I don't know about the other 3, but Lake Ontario seems a little depressing (Detroit, Buffalo, Niagra Falls NY, etc)

The good folks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto, and Kingston don't seem to find Lake Onatario all that depressing.

Not to be picky, but Detroit is on Lake Erie, Buffalo is also on Lake Erie, and Niagara Falls, NY is on the Niagara River.

Lake Michigan I love, though it is a tough choice. Grant Park in Chicago, the Indiana dunes sway me to pick this one. I too don't see the allure of Lake Ontario- I've walked/driven just about every mile of it both on the New York and Ontario side and it is flat-out unappealing and boring: I profess though perhaps part of my view is skewed by the fact that the weather is often a raw and dreary on the lake front in the summer time, not just the winter.

Michigan- Sand dunes, great beaches (with NO NASTY SALT WATER!), Mackinac Island etc..

Superior- gotta love something that powerful and all those smooth stones. plus it keeps things cold and I love cold

Erie- has Cedar Point and Detroit (near it)

Huron- Sault Locks

Ontario- can't really think of anything right now, but that's my order of favorites
