True, the REAL Confederate flag looked very much like the new Georgia state flag.

I have never seen a confederate flag in Minnesota, which is a good thing as it is a symbol of ignorance, slavery and opression.

I've seen several confederate flags in a largely caucasian, blue collar city in Ontario, Canada. I think it either represents white pride, rebellion, rough and tumbleness, anti-authoritarianism, or indivuality depending on the particular Canadian who flies it.

I personally know Canadians who display it and do so either because they are Liberterian or they just like "pickup truck and 'larry the cable guy'" style culture

Two completely different scenarios.

The flag we are all familiar with is the soldier's flag. The Confederate Battle Flag/Naval Jack. And no, it doesn't have KKK all over it, it may have SCV all over it too.

The Confederate flag didn't have a genocidal government under it, they are not comparable.
I never said that anybody was tried for treason. I view it as treason. Just and opinion.

Missed my point. The point I was making is that people are using symbols that have a definite history to it to mean something different, like a generalize watered down concept of their finer points, ergo my earlier comparison. Get it now?

Just like Christians have adopted a roman instrument of torture and execution as their symbol, I have always thought that blacks should adopt the confederate flag as a symbol of their oppression (or just to p!$$off racist rednecks).

I have seen it on cars and in front of houses in New York and Connecticut.

Personally I think the flag is fine where it is flown as a nod of respect to heritage (the South). In the North, I think there is an ulterior admission going on and it isn't a respect for State's Rights if you know what I'm saying.
