just because we support the flag doesn't mean we support every single decision made under the flag. i hope you keep those stupid judgmental thoughts to yourself in public.

It's a symbol of treason. What would people think if modern day germany incorporated a swastika on their flag. Afterall it is part of their history.

Interesting! When/how would it have been abolished?

I myself think (even though I unfortunately cannot see into alternate universes) that the CSA would eventually have given up slavery by 1890-1900, with the onset of the Boll Weevil and the destruction of the cotton crop, rendering much of the slave labor useless, that, or the British government sets up a time table for it when the Confederacy gains independence. It (the Boll Weevil) would have been disasterous for a South with it's fortunes intact, this is an America which never had reconstruction as we know it, or Atlanta being burned to the ground. We could imagine race relations being slightly more friendly than they are now without the shock and destruction of what the Civil War as we know it caused.

It has nothing to do with any decision made under the flag,(which of course was never the flag of the confederate government anyway), but more to do with the transformation of the symbolism. I do regret that you feel that my thoughts should be muted in public, especially considering what you posit as the meaning of the flag.

Really? I don't think so. In-fact the Confederate flag is viewed quite negatively in much of the nation and often signifies a racist or Tea bagger.

But since you, a Californian, cannot speak in any remote sense for any part of the country except your own. I feel that once again, you are VERY wrong. No, not a Confederate flag wavers are racists, including myself.

Even though I voted for some Tea party candidates and they seemed to kick the tar out of many Democrats across the country....nah I'll leave that topic for another day.

I've seen a confederate flag in upstate NY a while back. Was near the Northern end of Cayuga Lake. Was a bit bizarre looking. Area looked a bit rundown.

Never saw a confederate flag anywhere in New England. Seems a bit hard to imagine.

It is? Please explain. As it was, even the northern powers of the day frankly admitted that secession was NOT treason. Anyone who repeats this historical inaccuracy is just making a fool of themselves.

What does the American South have in common with Nazi Germany? Just another bit of total BS and historical ignorance. As it was, it was Southerners who made up a disporportionate number of the military men who whipped Nazi Germany.
