Omaha leans to the left a little more than to the right. We have had 12 years in a row with a democrat mayor and gave Obama an electoral vote in 2008. People in Nebraska call Omaha 'Obamaha'.
Omaha's culture is very defined and growing very fast (as is the city). Omaha (rapidly approaching 500,000 within city limits) has only 23 miles of open space from Lincoln (rapidly approaching 300,000 within city limits). This very close presence creates a vibe of metro area of 1.2 million people growing well above the national average.
That and neither Tulsa nor Omaha is that cold. Really no place in the US has a true 'cold' climate. They have a month to two (dramatic winters) where the rest of the year is very temperate.
