Well, uh....lots of people, if they have the means, move to the city that they like the most. That could explain it, no?

I like almost everyplace I've ever been, except for Columbus, OH, and Omaha, NE. And I've lived in dozens, and been to hundreds.

San Antone, Texas because I plan on settling down in that metro possibly someday and it has good tourist destinations.

that doesn't seem surprising to me.

Greenville SC for me, where I live now. it has a great downtown with a 30 foot drop waterfall right off Main Street. It is near the Blue Ridge mountains and 3 pristine lakes. The cost of living is reasonable, and a 4 season climate with summers not as hot as most of the south, and little snow. A lot of golf courses in the area.

I completely agree. We travel all over the nation and my metro, Charlotte, is our favorite. It clearly has a lot to offer and is one of the best metros in many rankings and publications, but it's also home. I just love it here. I really enjoy seeing others, such as yourself, say your hometown is your favorite. There's something about the sense of pride of where you live that is nice to see these days. Clearly, some places are not that great and I could see why someone would want to move. But I think there's so much of the-grass-is-greener mentality today. It seems some may never be satisfied, no matter where they are. Not saying everyone, I just seem to get that sense here on city-data sometimes.

Miami and its metropolitan area.

Only place in the entirety of the United States I can envision myself living in permanently. Everywhere else that "I could" live in would only be temporarily (1-3 years maximum) or post-retirement.

I'll go as far as saying that Miami along with Sydney and Melbourne are the only cities in the world that I genuinely like enough to have a desire to live in permanently.

We're on the same wavelength dude! Despite all its faults and shortcomings, I do love Miami.
