Hi I'm from a small European country called Bulgaria and this year will come in the USA via the program Work and Travel.
This is my first time and am a bit disoriented, so I hope to help me.
Me and my girlfriend have job offers from Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
We will work in a hotel, but unfortunately we havn't secured accommodation.
It will be usefull if you can provide me some information about housing and finding second job, for both of us. i would like to see most of the interesting thing in Maine area so feel free to recomend intersting place to visit. I'm 23 years old, like climbing, cycling, entertainment

Sorry for bad English it isnít my native.

Thanks in advance, greetings from Bulgaria!

Hello and welcome

You might try asking your question on the Maine forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/maine/ . The people there are better qualified to help you, I think.

You could start your search for housing on a site like craigslist. Here are some results for apartments and rooms for rent in Old Orchard. You should probably search for lodging in other towns in the area as well (assuming you will have a car to commute), since Old Orchard is a tourist town and the prices may be higher. I would do a search for Biddeford and Saco too.

As for places to visit, the best climbing and hiking is actually right across the border in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Crawford Notch State Park and Franconia Notch State Park are two good places to start. The Maine coast is beautiful and there are a lot of charming little towns further up the coast, like Damariscotta and Camden. Acadia National Park has beautiful scenery too.

Portland is an interesting small city to visit, as is the smaller Portsmouth, New Hampshire. You can also take the bus or train to Boston, one of the best big cities in America. If you like lakes, Sebago Lake in Maine and Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire are worth the visit.

Linkin, you are lucky to see such a great town on your first trip to the US! I used to go there every summer as a kid and loved it. There's a lot of cheesy tourist shops, and the beach by the boardwalk is very crowded during summer. I remember hearing French spoken a lot, so many a lot of French-Canadians like to visit there as well? Anyway, there is also a quieter beach. You will probably see a double-decker bus in town (if the campground still operates it), which was imported from Germany I think. I hear rent is a bit pricey there, though. Good luck and have fun.
