In California and other Western states, Latinos tend to be of Mexican origin, and there is no large black population or strong Afro-Mexican heritage to draw these groups together.

In many ways, Spanish-speaking Puerto Ricans or other Caribbean Latinos have more in common (race) with African Americans than they do Mexicans (language).
well on the east coast you have plenty of mexicans/central americans to.

in new york city Hondurans. columbians, and Ecuadorians get along with blacks to.

But for the mexicans out here they tend to be in their little circle.

Waronxmas, first of all you have your calculations wrong. The D.C. metro area has 1,440,000 blacks, not 1,000,000. The D.C. metro according to the census is 25.9% black and Baltimore has 800,000 blacks which put the csa numbers at 2,250,000. These numbers alone make it second to New York City in population of blacks. You do realize that D.C.'s metro black population was larger than Atlanta's in the 2000 census. So 29% of 1,440,000 comes to about 415,000 give or take. Remember that this is not including the Baltimore suburbs which would probably put the numbers beyond 550,000. So in other words D.C. has the quality and quantity. You probably came up with the inaccurate numbers from the Black Demographics website which has D.C., Philadelphia and a couple of other cities black population numbers wrong. My breakdown of the stats is just my observation and nothing negative against Atlanta. If anything Atlantan's should be proud of taking in that many people and having their percentage of college educated blacks go up by 3%.

I know that a smaller city like Ithaca has seen a steady increase in it's Black population and even has a Black man that is the superintendant of the Ithaca City SD: Ithaca City School District - Home

So, the mobility of African Americans isn't just towards the South.
Thats a very good point.

It is Definitely more of a Gang/Territory issue than a Race/Culture issue.......

Some are coming from NYC etc. but most are coming from surrounding southern states as well as southern Georgia. D.C. has way has more black people living in it's radius than ATL. Remember, B,more and D.C. are 30 minutes from each other and share suburbs. They separate the two metro's 15 minutes north of D.C. and 15 minutes south of Baltimore. You do the math!
Thats very true because when I was in Atlanta there were some people telling me that a lot of the recent Atlanta Transplants are from the Carolina's, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.......
