I have a friend here from Colombia, and went to a housewarming get-together over there, and it was pretty solidly white collar, or postdocs. A mix of black, white and Asian folks in attendance as well, and it was pretty much the same demographic.

Again, though, that is a very recent development. 40 years ago there were practically no Spanish-speaking people in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia.....

Dude, please. You've got a proven history of hating on Atlanta and even admitted to it. Get a new hobby for Christ's sake.

The University of Tennessee (UT) also happens to be an excellent university. I think it will be wonderful if Knoxville become more diverse. It is still an ideal place to raise a family despite the fact that America is still somewhat in a recession.

I wonder if African-Americans are turned off by small black population in Knoxville with its location by the mountains. I know it can't have anything to do with racism because many of my black friends enjoy living here and attending UT. That's why I encourage people to visit and check out Knoxville before assuming anything.
I have friends fro Johnson City,TN,and the way I here them talk abut Knoxville and certain cties is not so much racism overtly but you just dont have the numbers of upwardly mobile blacks. In others words things are fine because they stay in their "place".Are there black leaders that everybody looks up too.? Business people,politicians,etc...?

Just grow up and accept the fact that nothing in Alabama will be anything like Atlanta, Houston, or Dallas in any of our lifetimes. That ship has sailed and your life will be a lot easier if you just acknowledge that. Wishing it weren't so doesn't change that fact.

aryan brotherhood = all talk.

also aryan brother hood hate the Mexicans just as much as blacks. The only reason they are allied with them is because if you want drugs you need to go to the Mexicans in cali.
Really?
Ive seen alot of documentaries where the blacks in prisons in Cali openly admit to being scared of the aryans and trying to avoid conflict with them, along with the Mexicans because aryans & surenos are filled with lifers who live to shank people, who know they are going to die there anyway, Where as the black gangs are filled with guys with drug charges who mostly want to be peaceful, do there time and leave.

The surenos do run s*** in prison in cali cause there's so many of them.

Nah I hear blacks in Cali prisons are threatened by the Mexican Mafia and only cause they have numbers more so than the Aryan Sisterhood(whom are smaller and probably the weakest prison gang)...It says something that even though Aryan **** whom historically hate all non whites(Mexicans included) are forming alliances with Mexican Mafia against blacks...If those Skinheads were so bad they wouldn't need Mexican Mafia daddies/protection to keep black gangs off their asses.

I can't answer why they're not attracted to Knoxville, but the reason why there's historically not a lot of African Americans there is because it's up in the mountains and there was little use for slavery there, like West Virginia
