Default DIY movers vs full service movers

DIY moving VS Full service movers ; Saving time and money in tough economic time like today so Going back to basics is always better. If you are having a hard time deciding whether to use full service mover verses D-I-Y , the proof is in the money you save by doing it yourself. Cutting cost on the little things like boxes, tape, packing peanuts begin to add up when your on a budget. Here my tip of the day- Go cheap.. Cheap Moving Boxes, Moving Boxes, Moving Supplies, Discount Boxes, Boxes For Moving, Packing Boxes, Packing Supplies, Wardrobe Boxes, TV Boxes, Moving Kits, Kitchen Boxes, Medium Boxes, Large Boxes is the best place I found.

It depends upon how much you're moving. Going DIY really makes you consider whether or not your really need to move everything if you're the pack-rat type, versus packing it for someone else to lug on/off a truck and having you start over in a new location with the same piles of crap. Having gone DIY for the past three moves it's nice to have plenty of room for everything because I self-imposed the rule that if I haven't touched it for more than a year I probably never would and pitched it...with the exception of some sentimental items.

I would never pay for a full service mover unless a company was reimbursing me - I'm just too cheap for that. I'm in the process of moving over 1000 miles and doing it all myself. Fortunately I have months to do this and own my own semi-tractor and trailer. I can do all of this for the cost of diesel fuel. I'll have a few friends or a fork lift help me get the larger/heavier things on the trailer, but that's it.

Just for grins, I called a full service mover for a rough price - the number was well into the 5 figure range - a clear non-starter for me. Especially when you own over 10 cars, trucks and trailers and enough furniture to fill 3 houses. I'm a huge pack rat - have always been and always will be.

No need to pay for boxes. I can go to the local food stores and they hold onto empty boxes before throwing them out. People come in all the time asking for boxes for moving. They're free for the asking and the store is happy to get rid of them. I have more than enough boxes to complete my move and didn't pay a penny for them. Learned that trick from my parents when we moved when I was a kid.
