which city, skyline, downtown is greatest(it doesn't have to be the poll cities, post any city as greatest). which would be your opinion on the most lively downtown, the nicest skyline, the overall best city. post pictures so everyone can see the nicest skylines, and lively downtowns.

Don't want to double-post, so here's a thread in the Illinois sub-forum with some Chicago images posted by steve-o and myself: Chicago images.

Jake, someone might bust your chops over this new poll but I'm game. You provided a different list of cities and a different question than the other similar threads so I hope this thread stays alive.

I went for Seattle because I've been on that ferry from Bainbridge and it's just too much, so gorgeous. Obviously New York and Chicago are THE CITIES with the ginormous skylines, but they're not as beautiful (in my opinion) as Seattle's. What I love about the Seattle skyline is that it works with the surroundings, and the architecture works well as a complete whole.

I've seen Chicago from the water and even though it's mega-impressive for its size, it lacks the artistic qualities of Seattle. The huge condos lining the lake to the north of downtown are ugly boxes and there aren't a lot of stand-out buildings that impress me. New York is in a world of its own. It's too obvious, I should have voted for that one, but then I'd be voting on size rather than design and context.

Minneapolis is very impressive, and so is Houston. Just opinions, mind you. There's no "right" vs. "wrong" in a thread like this.

The Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower, John Hancock Center, Aon Center, Prudential 2 Tower, NBC Building, Bank One Plaza, Carbide and Carbon Building, House of Blues Hotel, Field Museum, Pretzker Pavilion, Sears Tower, Harold Washington Library, Chicago Temple Building, Museum of Science and Industry, Adler Planetarium, Art Museum, Marina City, Rookery, etc, etc, etc arent stand-out? I wouldnt know what would be then...
