See my previous post about Denver. It is majority-minority. 50.01%. Pittsburgh, by contrast is 66% white.

sure didn't see that when I went to Denver a few years back. Seemed very White to me, when compared to most other US cities. And I went across the whole metro area not just the city proper.

From the Denver Post:
Quote:
Minorities a majority in Denver
Now, 50.01 percent of the county's population is non-white, statistics show.
By Bruce Finley Denver Post Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 08/09/2007 06:01:06 PM MDT
The U.S. Census Bureau announced Wednesday that Denver has crossed a cultural threshold: Sometime between 2005 and 2006, white non-Spanish/ Latino/Hispanic residents became a minority.
Denver is the largest of eight counties nationwide to cross this line during that period, census officials said, based on population data collected over the past year that showed a continuing international influx.
In 2005, 49.8 percent of Denver's population (558,667) was deemed minority, or non-white. Now, 50.01 percent of the population of 566,974 is non-white.

Perhaps you will believe the Census Bureau

thank you for providing the added validity. But how about the overall metro area of Denver with its 2.5 million or so inhabitants?

That is not the OP's question. However, here is the answer:
Ethnicity
A diverse population in Metro Denver fosters a culture of creativity, openness, and energy, all essential ingredients for the region's Mountain West lifestyle.
The ethnic/minority population comprises 32.8 percent of Metro Denver’s population, with continued growth forecasted during the next decade. According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2006 American Community Survey, Colorado ranks ninth in the nation for total population with two or more races.
Metro Denver’s ethnic/minority population grew by 11.6 percent between 2000 and 2006. The Hispanic population is Metro Denver’s largest minority group comprising 21.9 percent of the population in 2006.

Compare that to some other cities such as Pittsburgh, whose suburbs are 90+% white.

Compared to Cleveland which is 55% black, and 7% hispanic and white only make up about 36% in Cleveland. Also in Detroit, whites only make up about 11%.

Austin, Texas isn't 98% white, but hanging around downtown/Sixth Street at night can easily give off that impression.
Very segregated for such a "progressive" city...

Cleveland is 41% white we are 43% white according to wiki. Cleveland thinks they are the only city with black people besides Detroit. I'm not saying we're Detroit but we're not in the same catagory as Portland or Seattle
