In which cities are employment opportunies better than others? Please no lectures on how I "should have a job lined up" before moving - I am in a horrible living situation and I also don't fly, which would make interviewing out of state difficult. I am currenly employed and have always had a job, so no gaps in employment.

I am a bookkeeper and make $12.00 an hour.

Well sorry, but I can't help you there specifically, and I'm not gonna give you a lecture as I'm only 20 and work for my parents so I don't have a lot of experience and would therefore be some sort of hypocrite.

I would ask, even though I can't help, but for others, what area of work are you look for? What sort of salary? Also, have you tried googling for any sort of unemployment rankings?

Oh, sorry - I was pressed for time when I wrote this. I am a bookkeeper. I probably could not make it on less than $12.00 an hour (and even that has been rough).

Yeah, I'll be okay - at least I have a solid work history, so I am hoping that at least counts for something....but I know it will be risky...

Well, maybe, but it wouldn't be much different to being laid off. You'd still have to look for a job then whilst having to still pay your rent/mortgage, and in fact, it could be less risky because you might move somewhere with lower unemployment and more jobs in your area. A solid work history will almost always help I reckon.

I hadn't really thought of it that way; I feel a little better now. I would be leaving an area of very low wages (compared to other metros) and high unemployment (South Florida).

Well I'm glad to be of assistance.

You must have at least some idea of where you'd wanna move to? It's just looking for a place where jobs are easier to come by seems like a fairly flimsy reason to move on its own.
