Gary is in the Chicago area, sure, but I don't think anyone considers it a suburb. A number of towns in the Calumet region (n.w. Indiana) are not suburban at all, although some, like Merriville, definitely are.

they are pretty far even to be exurbs, really part of the Allentown Metro and now NYC CSA




For Philly a lot in DE and even more in NJ for Philly burbs

New York has the majority of its suburbs in other states. NJ and CT are both far more than the towns you mentioned.

There are actually buildings and lots along the KS-MO line in Kansas City that are partially in one state, and partially in the other. Go here:

Yes, Pike County PA is actually in the NYC metro area.
