ANOTHER accent thread? The accents in the Midwest differ from state to state, and even within each state. If you have a trained ear, you can pick it up.

They do have an accent, but very slight. They have a very nasal pronunciation of "A"s. And as you have pointed out O's are pronounced as short A's

Many people in Saint Charles County have a slight southern accent

There was not mention of U.S 30 from myself.

The only thought I brought to attention was a vowel shift. The Northern Cities Vowel

I really am sorry if I offended anyone by mentioning the vowel shift, did not mean to cause any ill will for anyone who is reading the posts.

as a kalamazooan, i can safely say that southwest/west coast michigan from berrien county up to traverse city, are relatively accentless.
