Hi all, I have always wanted to ask this, also I was in Mississippi and it was a culture shock to me being from Scotland we have no such thing as poverty, our goverment doesn't let our towns get that bad.
Can you guys tell me which states you would rate as poor with not alot of job prospects, and crime in general?

Im focusing more on the South, Deep South and Southwest, border states.

I really liked North and South Carolina

I'd like to move to the US eventually but i dont want to move to an area that is dead or dying with nothing to do with no culture and high crime.

I am in the aviation industry and would probably live near-ish an airport

Thanks

Sarah

Those states actually do gain jobs and population. The states that are struggleing with jobs is Ohio,New York(excluding NYC),Michigan,Pennsylvania, lets just say alot of Northeastern and Midwest states are struggleing with drawing jobs.Basically any city in our country has poverty and crime,I've heard we are actually one of the most violent countries. But anywhere you move in our country is gonna have crime, but its worse in some places. These are places with alot of crime and poverty.Cleveland,Detoit,Baltimore,Chicago(has alot of nice areas too),Phiadelphia,Miami,Birmingham,Little Rock, theres tons more.Heres a great city for you in North Carolina,Raliegh. It has a much lower crime rate than most cities, and poverty is less widespread. Its growing in population and drawing in alot of jobs.

gun crime, I would say. Compton, Youngstown, Baltimore, St. Louis. those are the worst, you probably should stay away from those cities, unless you have a bullet proof vest.

It's not about states it's about the area you live in. Stay away from low income areas and you won't have to worry about much gun crime.

Why would you go from Scotland to Mississippi? Mississippi is the poorest state in the US. It's like going from the US to the poorest council flats in Glasgow.

I'm pretty sure PA had/has the most gun homicides. From Philly and Pittsburgh.

Look at Ohio. In Northeast Ohio you have Cleveland, Akron, Canton, and Massillon all condenced in one area. Plus you have Youngstown, Columbus and Cincinatti throughtout the rest of the state. Ohio isn't the home to many of the 'rich'.

The state with the highest murder RATE in the US is Louisiana.

The state with the highest NUMBER of murders is California, due to its population.

Ohh thats bad. In Scotland its not that bad we dont have gun crime as such.

I wouldn't move to MS due to the fact that its poor and i've been there and its terrible, i feel sorry for people there. I really liked GA, NC and SC they seemed ok.

Cities would be Charlotte, NC Charleston, SC
