I have noticed that a ton of people on city-data talk about or start a thread about wanting to move to x or y place. I have noticed they are overwhelmingly the same couple of places. I myself want to move somewhere new soon and find the most common places mentioned to be the same ones I am thinking about.

The most common places I have seen people say they want to move to are:

Seattle, WA
Phoenix, AZ
Portland, OR
San Diego, CA
Alaska (not as specific)

Lesser extant:

Dallas, TX
Minneapolis, MN

The most common combo I see is people leaving Seattle for Phoenix, or leaving Phoenix for Seattle.

Just an observation. Not at all scientific, though I do know they fit immigration trends relatively well.

When I saw the reply was by 'observation' I knew I was in for it!

We must be reading very different threads, because none of those cities are what I would consider the ones that most people inquire about.
