Well, since we base population on metro area, why not crime?

What are the most dangerous metro areas in the country?

I'd say NYC-Philly. With Camden, Newark, Jersey City, Atlantic City, Trenton, Yonkers, and all the inner-city neighborhoods, I'd have to say this one. Or maybe Detroit.

So, here's my list:
1) NYC-Philly
2) Detroit
3) New Orleans
4) Miami
5) Los Angeles

All metros have their trouble spots.

Philly and NYC are not in the same metro. Close but no Cigar.

Philly Metro has parts of Philly, Camden, Chester, Trenton (does Trenton count in this metro?), and other small scattered hot spots.

NYC metro has pasrts of NYC, Newark, East Orange, Irvington, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, and other small scattered hot spots.

Atlantic City, I don't think they are part of either Metro. Nasty town.

Good contenders but there really is no worse.

I've seen lists of the "Most Dangerous Cities" but I have never seen one for a metropolitan area. My guess however for the most dangerous would probably be New Orleans.

I forgot if New Orleans was on the list,I know Detroit was at the top.St. Louis and Cleveland two cities on the most dangerous weren't on the most dangerous metros list.Cleveland still does have some bad suburbs but its also got alot of nice ones.

detroit's metro is very safe, the fourth safest city in the country is in metro Detroit. the metro gets brought down by the city of Detroit and Dearborn. other than that your dealing with middle to highclass homes and safe streets.

Detroit's metro is more dangerous than either St. Louis or Cleveland. That much I'm sure of. just admit it...Detroit is not the GOLDEN CITY.
