I don't buy it. I'd be willing to bet that the hipster is more open to going to traveling and living in new places, trying new foods, meeting new different types of people, that he is more tolerant of other cultures and religions, and that if his daughter ever came home with a black guy and said "Daddy I'm engaged!" he'd accept it much faster than the country boy.
No more than likely he'd only be for it as long as it wasn't his daughter. Get real. lol.
Granted this is just my personal experience, but I've found that more often than not, it's the country folk putting down the city folk, much like this thread. Again, just my personal experience in "real life", not the internet, so take that for what it's worth.
This has been my experience as well. Country people have told me time and again (since I am from a city), that I don't know anything about anything, and that I don't know how to live or survive. They always told me that with an air of importance about themselves, like I had no sense, or didn't have any knowledge above sidewalks and city parks or something. They also put down apartments and living in the city in general, because people in the country can have bigger houses and more land. I'm not making this up, these are all things people have told me.
I don't doubt that some city people like to pretend they are above country people, I'm just saying that it is the other way around as well.
I happen to know quite a few left leaning individuals who routinely talk about "equality" and then turn around and make racial slurs. I also know of several people I went to school with whose parents preached tolerance and racial equality until their precious daughter wanted to date a black man.

Well who could argue with those compelling facts?
BTW, did I mention I met some people who think the moon landing was a hoax?
