New York and New Jersey, guess which one is New Jersey...
Yawn. You think I, a New Jerseyan, am not used to being picked on for where I live, as well as my state being directly picked on? Next.

Every state other than CA. Flyover country is everything that is not NYC, LA, and San Francisco.

The coastal term "flyover states" is obnoxiously elitist and quite silly. There are MANY amazing states and cities in between CA and NY, and I have to say imo LA is a bit overrated to put it generously.

Hey, if they want to think that way, then that's just fine. We don't need that ish around here anyways.

No I am not kidding and I don't have a problem with flyover country.

I dont think of the area between NYC and the CA coast as bad, just in between the nations 2 largest cities and 3 main trend setters.

I am sure that I am not living a life thats much different than someone in Kansas City. We both must work, have a family, a home, and a straight forward life IMO.

The term makes sense, but it just seems weird calling a place that houses a HUGE portion of the US population, flyover land, when, well... that's where everyone is. It's whatever though. Gotta love an abundance of hidden treasures.

Yeah, no. Nice little piece of wishful thinking, though.

You're being very charitable. The most generous word I can dredge for users of this term is 'condescending.'

"Oh, I'm sure your little backwater is fine. Calm down, darling."

As I recall, though, by the end of the cartoon, Spike ( NY/LA/SF) had become subserviant to Chester( Flyover states). Role reversal...
