I think states are too broad for this type of exercise, cities/metro areas are much more relevant in today's world. Like I could say I'd enjoy Indiana, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, but in reality I would only want to live in the parts of those states near Chicago, Boston, and Charlotte, respectively.

What reasons do you have Wisconsin on your list.
Wiscosin was the first U.S. state I have ever lived in, so it is more of a personal thing.. What I enjoy about it is the climate during summer, the beautiful coastline along lake Michigan and the friendly people. I am a foreigner but I've always felt welcome in WI. Milwaukee is a nice city and has a lot to offer, Madison is beautiful as well. Chicago is not far either. Wisconsin offers a good mix of city life, small towns, farms, nature... not to mention the good cheese.

Washington state was on my list but 10 other states were too.
I went back there last week, and I realized that I've spent most of my adult life fooling myself into thinking I could be truly 100% *happy* somewhere else other than WA. I've been wrong, and I'm ready to admit it.

I'm a CA native. I spent the summers of 1989-1999 in Everett, WA, (also had weekish-long stays there in 2003, 2005, and last week), and lived in Spokane for roughly half of 2009. I like and feel at home there more than I do in CA, or my current domicile, CO. Going "home" to WA, is simply inevitable.

The "enjoy" part titling this thread is what got me. I could probably deal with living everywhere in the US with the exception of the South and Hawaii. But that's for climate reasons only, nothing cultural, etc. Climate is a deal-breaker for me (with a few exceptions).

Anything that is remotely opposite of the aggressive, invasive, and cut-throat attitudes of the Northeast/East Coast, and anyplace that has more interesting topography than the bland and monotonous Mid-Atlantic region would be preferable for me.

To be honest if I had to I could live in all the states as every state has a city that I like. Now I prefer Colorado.
