Canarsie, Brooklyn (NYC) is always a good choice.

Well, actually, it not really an African American community per se, its more of West Indian/ Caribbean-American one. However, there is a sizable amount of AA's living & coming in. Its very upper-middle class w/o all the yuppie crap.

This is an accurate statement also South Florida and the area where I live - Weston (Broward County) has seen a growing population of upper middle class educated African Americans. We view this as a positive change in diversifying and rounding out our community.

Well I guess its generally true for 1st generation Africans in the U.S. Although its a bit misguided considering immigrants must have a marketable skill and one hell of a background check to even be let in. The younger Africans I know for the most part act american (especially if they are born here). They are into to hip-hop culture and the like. Im just glad to see blacks moving up in America regardless of background. I just know my neighborhood is predominatly African American and safe.

Africans, and I've known many of them, are great people. I believe they're one of the few true success stories of American Immigration. They put AA to shame. Also, they do better in America becuase unlike Europe, we don't stuff hardworking people into projects and feed them welfare.

I do not consider an African American a black person who was born and raised in the USA by black parents born and raised in the USA who had black parents born and raised in the USA, etc., etc. True African Americans are those people who are from Africa who moved to the USA as children or adults in pursuit of a better life. They are trustworthy, polite, usually Republican, hardworking, and disciplined. I would live in their community any time. However, black Americans is really what this discussion is all about regarding crime, gangs, violence, etc., and not true-blue African Americans.

Immigrants in general regardless of race put all Americans to shame because they outperform all of us. We've become very complacent and spoiled. In the UK they came out with a report that immigrants productivity was almost 3 times their native population in the corporate environment its really pitiful what we've become in the West. Africans are doing a good job of fighting off that negative stigma Africa has attached to it. Im just waiting to see how long it takes for them to become "americanized" like weve seen so long because from what I can see its not taking long.

I found this post by someone on another thread. I thought it was relevant to this topic. Enjoy.

"I live in S.W. MS and yesterday was entertaining a couple who was visiting from another state. We patronized a convenience store, where upon purchasing a beverage, I tossed a $5 bill onto the counter. The cashier, who was African American looked at me in disgust. When I asked her if there was a problem, a African American male in line with me said, "she is pissed off with you 'cause you didn't put the money in her hand". GOOD GRIEF!!!! Have we become so sensitive????? It's not like I took it and threw it at her. I am colorblind when it comes to people, and will give my shirt off my back to someone who needs it.... YES, reverse discrimination is alive and well in Mississippi.... I also encounter this quite frequently at our local discount stores and fast food restaurants........ Can people just try to get a long, and not show partiallity to their own race? Thanks for allowing me to vent...Time for me to move as well, but this kind of "crap" goes on everywhere, just seems more so here..........."
