My neighborhood is a little slice of working class Appalachia in the middle of a minor metropolitan area. When I first moved in down the road in 1977 many of my neighbors still used outhouses and one neighbor kept a herd of pigs. Very rural feeling although in the fall I can hear the football games across the river louder than if I had my radio on. Great fireworks displays, too and I can ride my bike to town quicker than driving.
Now we are being encroached upon by condos and the communities don't mix. None of the diversity mentioned above although we do have a few working class hispanic families.

It must be real annoying when urban sprawl comes knoking at your front door.
the town i live in was incorporated in 1839 way before they even knew what the concept of urban sprawl was! once the cities go up in flames and were back to ours senses my town will still be there!
