I think they call it "Paris of North America" mainly because it's the second largest French-speaking city in the western world after Paris.

I think Abidjan (Ivory Coast) and Douala (Cameroon) are larger French-speaking cities than Montreal.

These are one of the threads you can't really have a list for. There are just WAY too many cities that have been left off...
And last I checked, Honolulu, Albuquerque, and SLC weren't exactly LARGE.
