I'm mad that 'Bayou' contains more piney woods and hardwood forest than actual bayou and the "Bayou City", Houston, is not even in 'Bayou'. I don't care if it was 30+ years old, it would have been just as wrong back then as it is now.

my thoughts exactly. Its not like the geography of the country just up and changed in a few years.

It sounds like they heard one thing of about one are in the state and ran away with it.

They names some states for certain tribes. Tejas referred to a confederation of friendly tribes, he should have just left it at that and leave the current name of Texas alone.

The Tejas people were also known as the Hesanai people that would have even been better than Alamo

I wish I could rep you again. This more like it.

I esp like how you divided TX, FL, Cali and some others.
Houston is more like its neighbors east, Dallas is more like its neighbors north and west Texas is more in line with NM.

You are gonna get it from the Dallas peeps for Making OKC the capital of state 11.

wonder what would the relative populations of your states be?

Well, NOVA is already broken from DC & the Maryland areas...but you're right, I probably could have fit them in with DC. To tell you the truth, when I was drawing state #27, I started with Philadelphia and worked south...I wasn't sure if I wanted to include DC or not at that point. At the same time, I didn't really think it fit in with state #26 or even 25. It kind of just got cut off. If I redrew it, I'd just take that little chunk of NOVA and throw it into state 27.

haha...like I said, I didn't spend all day on this thing (I'll admit...probably an hour+). The big states were easier to divide IMO. Some of them didn't end up exactly how I wanted (Indianapolis and Cincinnati kind of got stuck in the middle of several other states. I had already been drawing lines, so I just made them into their own smaller state rather than hit the undo button 50x.....and my new home state of #19 stretches from Birmingham to Louisville...not exactly perfect there, either...)

As far as making OKC the capital........it wasn't as much of a snub of Dallas as much as picking a more central city for the capital. Not all of them are perfectly central...but if there was a good sized city, or existing capital close to the center, I usually went with that.

Fair enough, at first glance it was the only large metro that appeared to be fragmented. On your later points to me it would seem that DC and Baltimore have more connectivity to make any split and also if anything I would combine those two as to me Philly would probably have more connectivity to NYC than either Baltimore or DC but on the whole an interesting map and was just more surprised to see the large metro split.
