I thought it would be good to share the latest annual ranking from Inc. These are the metro areas containing the most high-growth companies across a multitude of sectors appearing on the Inc. 500. The DC area made a particularly strong showing relative to its metro area population:
2011: Metro Areas by Inc. 500 Companies
Washington, DC: 50
New York: 43
Los Angeles: 42
San Francisco: 19
Philadelphia: 18
Atlanta: 16
Chicago: 15
Boston: 13
Miami: 13
Seattle: 13
DC has been booming through the recession with all the government money. Nice to see Atlanta doing so well and outperforming some of its more celebrated peer cities.
