What are the pros and cons of your area?

Here in NWI

Pros: Cheaper than the Illinois side, and tons of places to eat
Cons: Fairly segregated, nothing to do for the younger population.

Gettysburg.

Pro - Historical and nice area
Con - Town quintuples in size during reenactments, population is booming as people use the town as a means to avoid maryland taxes eating up farmland turning it into mini-maryland. Not too much to do. Illegal fruit pickers for apple orchards.

Northwestern NJ:

PROS:

4 distinct seasons
beautiful rolling green hills - green as far as the eye can see
educated population
low crime
great schools
low pop density (compared to the rest of the state)
good job market - pharm and telecom hdqrts
good paying jobs
proximity to: NYC, Philly, Boston, DC, Pgh, Baltimore, Jersey Shore beaches down to VA, the gorgeous states of VT, NH, upstate NY, skiing and other winter fun!
food food food!
no tax on clothes
friendly people (not a typo)

CONS:

property taxes into the stratosphere
high cost of housing - but slowly coming down
traffic can be a bear
depending where you are in this part of the state, you can be far removed from necessities, car is mostly necessary.
a wee bit sprawly (see above) - but nothing like other areas, i.e. - sacramento, denver metro, phoenix (i mention them b/c they are the places i've been to recently)

Well Tuxedo Park, has pros...not any cons yet though

Pros: I've lived here for about 4 weeks, and I literally already know everyone
Gated community shuts out crime very well
On site country club with fitness center, golf, racquetsports, etc.
Proximity to NYC
Very compatible neighbors

Cons: A little ways away from the mall
Kid's school is about 15 minutes away so I'll have to backtrack to the train station after I drop him off. He start's on Friday! We're all excited.
Community lake only allows electric boats, which could be a pro too, I just happen to be on the market for a motorboat.

Pros: Lots of corn, and it's not Ohio
Cons: If it doesn't move, Illinois taxes it. If it moves, Illinois kills it and applies a death tax, and taxes on the tax.
