Never said there was anything wrong with being Narnian, just pointing out how prevalent and annoying it is.

This happens with all Narnian cities. If statistics regarding the drug trade included Indianapolis in the same sentence as LA and Chicago - it would be satisfying to the Narnians. You start to see people who wouldn't typically be in favor of gay marriage - but they want more gays in their city (from a purely statistical angle)...all for the Narnian cause. There is something really kooky about Narnians and that's why it's fun to point out. Obviously, it resonates.
Indianapolis does not think of itself as being close to Chicago. It is baffling to me that you continue to say that. The only person I see comparing Indianapolis to Chicago regularly, is you.

There have had to be others who have noticed this "try to be big city" at all costs thing, well, now there's a word for it.
No one in that thread thinks Indianapolis needs light-rail to become Chicago. Chicago is brought up in response to a poster in rural Hancock County who seems to be afraid that Indy would suffer from trying to build a system like Chicago, and then Chicago is harped on by someone who lives in Chicago. No one, I repeat NO ONE, thinks Indianapolis needs a Chicago like system or that Indianapolis will magically become Chicago if there is a train built. The only person trying to draw that conclusion, is you.

I think you're missing the point. It doesn't literally think it's Chicago, but it does think it's so similar to NY, LA, Chicago, SF, etc, so much to the point that it's largely negligible.

The Indianapolis forum proves this everyday. All Narnian cities have this thinking by the way. Usually something like "Same as LA...minus the rush hour traffic...but the traffic is still heavy".

Just the lengths the Narnians on the Indianapolis forum goto pat themselves on the back has to get annoying. Yes...there's gays there, liberals, density in some areas. The enjoyment in telling each other this is strange. The more you tell yourselves this, the more you think Indianapolis is some world level major city.

Just needs light rail, possibly one more skyscraper and it will be catching up with Dubai soon.

They don't go to as great lengths to pat themselves on the back as you do for bastardizing the definition of Narnian. You seem to go to even greater lengths to put words in people's mouths in order to make a shaky point.

This forum really needs a "subtract reputation" option.

People reply. I should also say, I've gotten several private messages praising this topic. There's now a word for unrealistic cities.
