How much population is needed for an town to be considered a large town?

40,000 population?

How much population is needed for an area to have an urban feel?

A "large town" is, for me, something like 60,000 people +, but it depends.
And a town with a population of 30,000 can have an urban vibe, IMO.

By urban do you mean philly type urban with row houses or atlanta type urban with hundreds of miles of low density city and suburbs? Anything over 50k I would consider a large town and 100k a small city

I don't think overall population affects the urban feel of a town. That as more to do with the population density.

It can if its dense but only takes 10 minutes to drive thru the town as opposed to a low density city that takes an hour to drive thru and has consistant low density thruout. I would consider the latter more urban.

If it's rather dense and only takes 10 minutes to drive through the town, you can assume that town would be very walkable, and have plenty of convenient places to dine and shop. I know plenty of towns that only take 10 minutes to drive through that fit the bill.

I would say 30,000 is the minimum, if the town also has a large university.

Juneau only has like 15,000 residents and it looks very urban.
