Where are the best secluded beaches in the US? Places to escape the crowds, get away from concrete high rises, but still be at a beautiful beach where it's calm peaceful, and serene? I won't limit this thread to too many specifics, ocean or large lakes will do. I'd also liek to hear about some unexpected ones, like perhaps in Southern California, New Jersey, or Florida which are all notably crowded but I'm sure have some hidden places that locals enjoy. Feel free to share photos if you'd like also.

There are many uncrowded, undeveloped beaches in Florida. Just in Pinellas County alone you have Fort Desoto, Honeymoon Island, Caladesi, Howard Park and many in between

I'm sure there are. Just wanted to hear about the very best and what people's favorite ones are.

If we listed them here, then they might not be so secluded anymore, would they? :-)

Jones Beach in Long Island, NY
Assateague Island in MD
Chincoteague in VA
Cape Hatteras in NC
Biscayne National Park in FL

are a few I liked.

One summer, I went to a beach near Kennebunkport, Maine. It was nice enough, but the people were looking at me like they were ready to throw me off their property. lol!

Up and down the west side of Michigan along Lake Michigan. My favorite secluded places are in the Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness area and along the Ludington State Park property. Mile after mile of sugar sand beaches so clean they squeak when you walk across them and crystal clear freshwater to swim in. Most 4th of July week-ends I can take my kids to the beach and not have anyone within 1/2 a mile or more of us. Plus the water temps are usually in the 70's by then which is nice.

It doesn't get more secluded than Cumberland and Sapelo Islands in Georgia.

Cumberland Island National Seashore - Cumberland Island National Seashort (U.S. National Park Service)

Georgia State Parks - Sapelo Island Reserve and Reynolds Mansion
